What to expect at a Jones Beach Theater concert

When you go to Jones Beach Theater concerts, you’ll be in a purpose-built waterside stadium facing the ocean. Visitors from all over come to enjoy Jones Beach Theater concerts, as part of the Long Island summer experience. It’s a favorite with New Yorkers, too, as it’s so easy to get to from NYC.

The amphitheater is currently having a makeover, with more user-friendly facilities to encourage community visits. A new open gate security screening system is being installed. This should make entrance lines shorter, because you won’t have to empty your pockets. The main plaza area has also been expanded, so you can hang out before the show. Adirondack lounge chairs are provided on the lawn, and you can listen to a live DJ or browse the artistes’ merch.

Jones Beach Theater can hold about 15,000 enthusiastic concert-goers. Its fan-shaped amphitheater layout offers good views of the stage from any seat, though the sound quality can be patchy as it’s outside. You’ll also see large video screens flanking the stage, so everyone can see close-ups of the performers.

You’ll be able to take a 1-liter or smaller bottle of water inside, and a small amount of food in a clear Ziplock bag, sized 1 gallon or less. You’ll also see plenty of cafes and food and beverage outlets around the arena.
