A few miles over the bridges on Wantagh State Parkway will take you within range of many restaurants. You can choose from tacos, steakhouses, Italian bistros or traditional American alehouse fare at the Wantagh Inn. In addition, Mexican, Venezuelan, Mediterranean, Irish and diner fare at Applebees are all up for grabs. A few miles west you’ll also find Persian food and an Outback steakhouse.

Jones Beach Theater is an area packed with parks and nature reserves. Jones Beach itself has a Wildplay amusement park, where kids enjoy adventure courses and ziplining. When you’re not on the beach, you can go fishing, sailing, boating or hiking, visit adventure parks or historical towns.
The little museum in Wantagh features an original post office, railroad station and a train car in a historical setting. You can see Wantagh’s local history in photographs and preserved items. Near Massapequa is the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve, where you can explore the zoological history of the area and see the animals there.
