Coming back from playing intimate theater gigs, John Mellencamp heads to some of the biggest outdoor sheds for a tour of his Heartland Rock Greatest Hits! The short, 19-city tour begins on July 10, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and John has promised he'll play songs he hasn't played live in over a decade but will still include his solo acoustic performances from previous tours.
From spina bifida surgery as an infant to starting his first band at just 14 and then eloping with his pregnant girlfriend at 17, John Mellencamp has really had a wild ride. He co-founded Farm Aid with Willie Nelson and Neil Young, won a Grammy for "Hurts So Good," and is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Despite holding the record for the most #1 tracks by a solo artist on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, he has only managed a single #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Jack & Diane."
The Mellencamp Band are Mike Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), John Gunnell (bass), Troye Kinnett (keyboards), and Dane Clark (drums).
Located in Wantagh, New York, inside Jones Beach State Park, the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater first opened its doors in 1952 as the Jones Beach Marine Theater and originally had a "moat" separating the stage from the audience. Following the flooding of the venue during Hurricane Sandy, the venue underwent a $20 million renovation and now hosts approximately 15,000 fans.
