Northwell at Jones Beach Theater
The Rise of Rock is here, and Godsmack are leading the way with bands like Stone Temple Pilots & Dorothy helping out to ensure this concert turns into a one-day rock fest. Let's just be honest about this, it's not that easy to find a high-end metal concert these days. Sure, you might have spotted your local bar where you can get your metal fix on any given weekend. Yet, it's not close to what you'll experience at the Jones Beach Theater on Saturday, June 27th.
Hopefully we'll have the sun out and the heavy guitars playing loud! The folks at The Jones Beach Theater really did fans a solid by putting this performance on a Saturday. A lot of these other stops are taking place in the middle of the week, and that's just not the same! Godsmack's Awake turned 25, and that's one of the excuses they gave as to why the band's on tour in 2026. Expect that live song to be one of the top moments of the night. As mentioned, though, this is going to be a concert that will call to metal fans from far and wide. It's quite a shame that the genre has been pushed to low-level bars, although you can find some magic being made in those spots as well. At the end of the day, even though the Jones Beach Theater is one of those venues that always keeps a spot for metal fans with Megadeth being out here a few years ago, for example, the genre is struggling with newer generations. It's time to show that metal's not dead!
Don't be caught off guard by the "new" music that Godsmack could bring to this event. The band released two full albums in 2023 and 2024. With the 2024 effort "Power Hour" going so under the radar, a lot of the info on the band doesn't even mention it! Keep in mind, these are also released with only Sully Erna and bassist Robbie Merrill as the OGs from the 1995 lineup. That could also contribute to them leaning into this set of tracks.
This is an excellent venue for a rock show, and you're going to find that toward the front of the theater, you'll get the true, rock concert, moshpit vibe that you remember from Godsmack shows back in the day. That being said, if you were around when "Awake" first saw the light of day, then a seat in the middle of the theater with a great view and a much more comfortable overall experience could be exactly what you're looking for. Let's be perfectly clear, there's no shame in that!
